Nằm giữa lòng thành phố Hồ Chí Minh, chùa Hòa Khánh tọa lạc tại số 215 đường Phan Văn Trị, phường 11, quận Bình Thạnh trong nét cổ kính an bình. Chùa được thành lập từ năm 1867 đến nay trải qua bao thăng trầm lịch sử. Nhiều bậc Tổ thầy đã dày công xây dựng, Trụ trì hiện nay là Hòa thượng Thích Tấn Đạt – Ủy viên Thư ký Hội đồng Trị sự Giáo hội Phật giáo Việt Nam, Phó Trưởng ban Thường trực Ban Hoằng pháp Trung ương Giáo hội Phật giáo Việt Nam, Trưởng Phân ban đào tạo Cao – Trung cấp giảng sư Ban Hoằng pháp Trung ương Giáo hội Phật giáo Việt Nam.

Với tâm nguyện “Hoằng pháp vi gia vụ – lợi sanh vi bổn hoài” Hòa thượng trụ trì đã nhiều lần cho trùng tu kiến tạo lại chùa Hòa Khánh để làm nơi tu tập, hành đạo cho chư Tăng, Phật tử và mở lớp Cao – Trung cấp giảng sư, đào tạo Tăng tài cho Giáo hội. Lớp Cao – Trung cấp giảng sư đến nay đã trải qua 11 khóa (trên 20 năm), với nhiều vị giảng sư được tốt nghiệp và hiện nay có vị thế lớn trong Giáo hội và uy tín trong cộng đồng xã hội. Ngày nay, chùa Hòa Khánh mang kiến trúc hiện đại, uy nghi hùng vĩ có đông lang, tây lang, ở giữa là ngôi Tam bảo gồm 5 tầng (tầng hầm dành để xe, tầng trệt là giảng đường, tầng 2 chánh điện, tầng 3 lớp học, tầng 4 điện Phật A Di Đà). Trước sân chùa là đài Quan Âm lộ thiên với hình ảnh Bồ Tát từ bi bao dung cứu khổ ban vui, đem an lạc đến cho mọi loài.

Ngoài ra còn nhiều Phật sự nổi bật của chùa được Hòa thượng trụ trì và chư Tăng quan tâm tổ chức duy trì hàng tháng, Phật tử về chùa tham dự rất đông như:

– Khóa tu Kết Duyên Phước Đức cho thân nhân & bệnh nhân Bệnh viện Ung Bướu, mỗi tháng 01 kỳ, vào ngày chủ nhật của tuần cuối cùng trong tháng, hoạt động trên 15 năm;

– Ngày 19 âm lịch mỗi tháng: 15h00 thăm và tặng quà cho bệnh nhân bệnh viện Ung Bướu; 18h30 lạy Ngũ Bách Danh (500 lạy);

– Khóa lễ tụng kinh Tịnh Độ, 18h30 tối mỗi ngày;

– Khóa lễ tụng kinh sám hối, lạy Phật, 4h30 sáng mỗi ngày;

– Khóa tu Bát Quan Trai giới, 7h30 sáng mùng 1 và ngày Rằm mỗi tháng.

– Ngày 27 – 28/11/2020 (nhằm ngày 13-14/10 Canh Tý), Lễ Húy Kỵ cố Hòa thượng thượng Từ hạ Hạnh & công bố trao Quyết định bổ nhiệm trụ trì.

Trong công cuộc Hoằng pháp độ sanh, Hòa thượng trụ trì luôn nêu cao chí nguyện dấn thân phụng sự ngõ hầu xiển dương chân lý Phật đà rộng khắp tha nhân. Năm 2019, sự kiện trong đại của đất nước đó là Đại lễ Vesak Liên Hiệp Quốc, Hòa thượng dù niên cao lạp trưởng đã dẫn đoàn xe Phật Sự Online diễu hành tuyên truyền xuyên việt từ Nam ra Bắc. Sự kiện đoàn xe (10 chiếc) được trang trí Pano, cờ hiệu, diễu hành và giao lưu mỗi nơi đi qua được truyền hình, livestream trực tiếp tạo nên không khí sôi nổi hân hoan cho Tăng Ni, Phật tử trong và ngoài nước, góp phần vào sự thành công chung của Đại lễ Vesak 2019.

Chùa Hòa Khánh dưới sự trụ trì của Hòa thượng ngày càng phát dương quang đại, đem đạo vào đời làm lợi ích nhân sinh, thắp sáng ngọn đèn thiền, truyền trao chánh pháp cho bao thế hệ.
