Ngược dòng thời gian cách đây 2.646 năm, vào ngày trăng tròn tỏ rạng của tháng Vesak thiêng liêng, Đức Phật Thích Ca Mâu Ni đản sinh tại vườn Lâm Tỳ Ni thuộc xứ Ấn Độ cổ đại, nay là Nepal. Đức Phật đản sinh đã trở thành một sự kiện hy hữu của toàn nhân loại. Ngài là “Một chúng sinh duy nhất, một con người phi thường xuất hiện trên thế gian này, vì lợi ích cho số đông, vì hạnh phúc cho số đông, vì lòng bi mẫn, vì sự tốt đẹp, vì lợi ích và hạnh phúc cho chư thiên và loài người”. Trải qua quá trình tu tập chứng nghiệm tâm linh, cũng vào thời khắc trăng tròn Vesak tại Bồ Đề Đạo Tràng Ấn Độ, Ngài đã giác ngộ thành Phật. Trong công cuộc hoằng pháp và độ sinh, Ngài đã để lại cho nhân loại một kho tàng hệ thống tư tưởng giáo lý vô giá về trí tuệ, lòng từ bi, tinh thần bất bạo động, con đường giải thoát khổ đau, hòa hợp và phát triển thông qua giáo lý Bát Chánh Đạo, là bản thể của trung đạo và ba môn vô lậu học Giới, Định, Tuệ là con đường độc nhất đưa chúng sinh đến chứng quả Niết bàn và thành Phật.

Ngày nay, Đại lễ Phật đản – Vesak đã trở thành lễ hội tôn giáo vì hòa bình của Liên hợp quốc, là đại lễ thiêng liêng của hàng triệu tín đồ trên toàn thế giới. Trong bối cảnh nhân loại đã trải qua hơn hai năm dịch bệnh COVID-19, cùng với sự đe dọa của biến đổi khí hậu, xung đột và chiến tranh đã cướp đi sinh mạng của hàng triệu con người thì Phật đản là thời gian để Liên hợp quốc phát đi Thông điệp của Đức Phật về hòa bình, lòng khoan dung, về thế giới không chiến tranh mà thay vào đó là tình thương, lòng bi mẫn, phụng sự con người và chúng sinh. Tổng Thư ký Liên hợp quốc đã khẳng định rằng: “Giáo lý của Đức Phật là Thông điệp vượt thời gian về sự đoàn kết và phụng sự tha nhân ngày càng trở nên quan trọng hơn bao giờ hết. Nhân ngày Phật đản – Vesak, chúng ta hãy cùng nhau tôn vinh trí tuệ của Đức Phật bằng cách hành động vì người khác trên tinh thần từ bi và hòa hợp, cũng như đổi mới cam kết của chúng ta nhằm xây dựng một thế giới hòa bình”.

Mỗi độ hoa sen nở rộ khắp các miền quê trên đất nước Việt Nam thân yêu của chúng ta, cũng là thời gian Tăng, Ni và Phật tử Việt Nam lại hân hoan cùng với Phật giáo đồ trên thế giới đón mừng ngày khánh đản của Đức Bổn Sư Thích Ca Mâu Ni. Năm Phật lịch 2.566, Phật đản năm nay trở về trong niềm vui chung của Nhân dân cả nước, trước tình hình dịch bệnh COVID-19 được kiểm soát. Cuộc sống trở lại bình thường, kinh tế xã hội đang trên đà hồi phục phát triển nhanh và bền vững, đời sống văn hóa, sinh hoạt tâm linh mang lại sự phấn khởi, tươi vui cho tất cả mọi người như Kinh Pháp Cú có dạy: 

Vui thay chư Phật ra đời 

Vui thay giáo Pháp khắp nơi hoằng truyền 

Vui thay Tăng chúng đoàn viên

Vui thay bốn chúng kết duyên tu hành

Kính mừng Phật đản năm nay, cũng đúng vào thời gian Giáo hội Phật giáo Việt Nam các tỉnh, thành phố đang tập trung trí tuệ tổ chức thành công Đại hội Đại biểu Phật giáo nhiệm kỳ 2022 – 2027 tiến tới Đại hội Phật giáo toàn quốc lần thứ IX sẽ được tổ chức vào tháng 11/2022 tại Thủ đô Hà Nội. Để mọi Phật sự được thành tựu, mỗi Tăng Ni cần khắc ghi và thực hành lời dạy của Đức Phật về giáo lý Tứ nhiếp pháp: “Bố thí là bằng tâm thanh tịnh nhằm giúp đỡ những người có hoàn cảnh khó khăn sau đại dịch COVID-19. Ái ngữ là dùng lời từ hòa hướng dẫn mọi người an trú vào pháp thiện. Lợi hành là làm lợi ích cho mọi người và xã hội. Đồng sự là hòa hợp dấn thân phục vụ để khuyến hóa mọi người phát tâm tu tập theo thiện pháp, hướng đến Nhất thiết trí – thành Phật”. Đây chính là con đường dẫn đến sự thành công của mọi công tác Phật sự. Đó cũng chính là con đường để giữ gìn sự đoàn kết nhất trí trong Giáo hội. Đồng thời là điều kiện quan trọng quyết định sự thanh tịnh, hòa hợp và thành công của Đại hội trên tinh thần Kỷ cương – Trách nhiệm – Đoàn kết và Phát triển.

Trong niềm hoan hỷ vô biên, kính chúc chư Tôn đức Tăng Ni, Quý Cư sĩ và đồng bào Phật tử Việt Nam ở trong nước và ở nước ngoài một mùa Phật đản an lạc, vô lượng cát tường, thành tựu viên mãn các Phật sự lợi đạo ích đời trong tinh thần xương minh Đạo Pháp, phụng sự chúng sinh là thiết thực cúng dường Đức Phật nhân ngày Đại lễ Phật đản – Vesak năm nay.
